Job Descriptions

Extrusion Operator

  1. Operates Extrusion Line according to procedures and guidelines.

  2. Adjust machine settings to complete the task accurately according to specs.

  3. Observe the high-speed movement of yarn to prevent waste and produce quality yarn.

  4. Operate aspirator (air vac) to attach extruded yarn to package.

  5. Switch from one resin silo to the other as required.

  6. Doff extrusion packages specified by QC to be tested.

  7. Bale waste as needed and remove full bales.

  8. Doff warp and fill packages as required.

  9. Scan “Resin lot tracking labels” as required.

  10. Print warp tracking labels and attach them to yarn boxes.

  11. Print fill tracking labels and attach them to each fill package during doff cycle.

  12. Sweep floor area as needed.

  13. Assist other extrusion offers as needed.

  14. Operate forklift as needed (forklift license required).

  15. Practice good housekeeping and safe work habits.

  16. Any job-related task specified by the supervisor.

Physical Requirements

  1. Ability to pull fill/warp packages from winders 5’ from the floor at 15 to 25 lbs each and bend to stack in yarn boxes approximately 30% of a work shift.

  2. Ability to stand or walk for extended periods of time checking/inspecting extrusions line approximately 15% to 25% of work shift.


Extrusion Doffer

  1. Doff warp and fill yarn packages as required.

  2. Attach fill tracking labels to all fill packages doffed.

  3. Obtain yarn boxes/pallets/dividers and place them along the extrusion line.

  4. When doffing warp or fill packages, always place a cardboard divider between boxes stacked on top of each other.

  5. When stacking fill yarn boxes, always place a cardboard divider between boxes stacked on top of each other.

  6. Operate aspirator (air vac) to attach extruded yarn to package.

  7. Bale waste as needed remove full bales of waste and transport them to the truck.

  8. Assist other extrusion doffers as needed.

  9. Cut the yarn from tubes as needed to provide tube availability for later doffs.

  10. Sweep floor area as required.

  11. Operate forklift as needed (forklift license required.)

  12. Practice good housekeeping and safe work habits.

  13. Any job-related task specified by the supervisor.

Physical Requirements

  1. Ability to pull fill/warp packages from winders 5’ from the floor at 15 to 25 lbs. each and bend to stack in yarn boxes approximately 40% of the work shift.

  2. Ability to stand/or walk for extended periods of time patrolling extrusion line checking on quality issues approximately 30% of work shift.


Beaming Operator

  1. Check with the previous operators to see if there are any problems they need to be aware of.

  2. At the start of the shift, confirm beam running is set according to beam specs, such as beam head width, oscillation, etc.

  3. Obtain empty beam from beam storage area utilizing a hyster and creel hand utilizing a beam jack and deliver to beamer.

  4. Set empty beam to beamer, tape ends to the beam barrel. Make proper machine adjustments to accommodate the newly set beam.

  5. Run beam and stop beam as breakouts occur.

  6. Assist running ends down and repairing as required.

  7. Maintain proper selvages according to beam specs.

  8. Constantly inspect and observe beam while running beam.

  9. Block creel when creel packages run down to skinners.

  10. Style change from one style to another as required.

  11. Scan “lot tracking labels” attached to yarn boxes prior to block creeling as required.

  12. Request and obtain beam style label from Q.C. for all block creeling cycles as required.

  13. Operate forklift as needed (forklift license required)

  14. Practice good housekeeping and safe work habits.

  15. Any job-related tasks specified by the supervisor.


Creel Hand

  1. Patrol the creel when the beamer is running to check for broken ends or rundown packages.

  2. Repair broken ends and replace rundown packages as required.

  3. Block creel beamer as required.

  4. Assist operator when obtaining/removing/replacing beams.

  5. Assist operator when leasing process occurs.

  6. When block creeling, block creel utilizing the standard creeling procedures, (5) rows at the time, (70) packages per hour).

  7. Cut off excessive waste as needed and put in yarn box from beam.

  8. Sweep work area as needed.

  9. Operate forklift as needed (forklift license required)

  10. Practice good housekeeping and safe work habits.

  11. Any job-related tasks specified by the supervisor.


Loom Fixer

  1. Blow off designated assigned looms at the start of the shift.

  2. Oil designated assigned looms after looms have been blown off.

  3. Repair looms as flagged by weaver and put back into production as soon as possible.

  4. Grease loom parts as required.

  5. Assist weavers, other fixers, doffers, and warp crew when needed, as time is allowed.

  6. Operate forklift as needed (forklift license required)

  7. Practice good housekeeping and safe work habits.

  8. Any job-related tasks specified by the supervisor.

Physical Requirements

  1. Regularly required to stand, reach with hands and arms, walk, stoop, reach, pull, and kneel as needed.

  2. Occasionally required to lift and move up to 100lbs or 150lbs with help as needed.

  3. Frequently lift and move approximately 20lbs as needed.

  4. Occasionally required to lift up to 50lbs from the floor to the waist, waist to shoulders, or possibly carry 50 feet.


Warp Crew/Tie in Operator

  1. Walk the back of the looms to check for the potential warp outs during shift.

  2. When the supervisor warps out a loom, the warp crew will lease the loom.

  3. Remove the empty beam from the loom.

  4. Sweep loom dust and excess trash from under the loom and dispose.

  5. Transport empty beam to storage utilizing beam jack and hyster.

  6. Obtain and transport full beam from storage area deliver to loom utilizing a beam jack and hyster or warp truck.

  7. Set full beam to the loom.

  8. Fram the loom and check for doubles.

  9. Prepare and tie loom with a tie-in machine.

  10. Smash loom and complete warp out to put loom back in production.

  11. Scan loom barcode labels and enter data so the fabric can be tracked utilizing a handheld scanner.

  12. Operate forklift as needed (forklift license required)

  13. Practice good housekeeping and safe work habits.

  14. Any job-related tasks specified by the supervisor.


Weaver

  1. Patrol assigned a set of looms, front, and back of the looms, to check for quality and potential stoppages.

  2. Repair warp, fill, and other stops as required.

  3. Replace, fill packages, and place on accumulator as needed.

  4. Flag loom to notify loom fixer of a mechanical problem.

  5. Scan fill package prior to placing to accumulator.

  6. Do not place fill packages underneath the filling stand.

  7. Place bad fill packages under accumulator stand when required.

  8. Assist utility employee to pull Q.C. samples as needed.

  9. When scanner problems occur, notify the supervisor.

  10. Expected efficiency to be in compliance varies from 82%-89%, determined based on the style mix.

  11. Keep work area clean.

  12. Practice good housekeeping and safe work habits.

  13. Any job-related tasks specified by the supervisor.

Note:

  1. Keep scanners on your person at all times.

  2. At the end of your work shift, give your scanner to the on-coming weaver.

  3. If the on-coming weaver is late, leave the scanner in the charger.

  4. The weavers are responsible for the scanners on their respective shifts.

  5. If these procedures are not followed, disciplinary actions will be given.

Physical Requirements

  1. Ability to walk and check assigned set of looms 8 to 12 looms checking for potential stoppages approximately 44% of the work shift.

  2. Ability to step on/off the loom catwalk approximately 5-8” from the floor approximately 15% of the work shift.

  3. Ability to lift fill packages 15-25lbs each from waist high, turning the body and placing to the accumulator stand approximately 20% of the work shift.

  4. Ability to lean, reach and stoop as needed when drawing warp ends which is approximately 5-10% of the work shift.
